About Opus series

JP EN

I find a living allure in things that were once given a role by humans and that continue to exist and change even after their role has ended, as if they were animals that once belonged to people and have now returned to the wild.

I think they possess a richness as living beings, where beauty and ugliness coexist not as something special or sacred, but simply as they are.

These materials have acquired individuality as unique existences through human interaction and long spans of time. While I work with them — taking that individuality as a core — reworking them, combining them, and drawing out new forms and balance, there comes a moment when the materials come together and become something within me.

There is a moment when they cross the line from being mere materials to becoming an existence.

I consider the act of bringing forth new forms and existences to be my design, and I continue to explore the meaning of the emotion they hold, in my own way.
